A Business of Uncertainties

Just like how this blog has uncertainties. I may post everyday, or I may forget that 2 years ago I had a blog that I wanted to keep updated. I don't even know where to began. I looked back at my previous post and I'm having trouble filling in where I left off. I guess I can start with the projects I've been working on since then and go from there. I looked back on my resume and it looks like I've worked on...9 or possibly 10 projects. Two of which I'm currently working on now. 10 projects?! To someone who has an agent and a steady flow of auditions that's not too great. But for me, someone who grinds everyday with the help of an agent or manager, that's pretty amazing! And that list doesn't include the extra work I've done (honestly, it doesn't count). There's been a lot of ups, and downs. Hopefully, when I get a chance to clear my mind , I'll share some stories and projects with you. Break A Leg, Ally

Booked a New Film!!!

More to come!

Pre-Pilot Season:

Today has been a roller coaster ride. And I believe I'm capable of finally putting together a decent post, so I'll continue. I woke up from a very…interesting dream, to say the least. I wouldn't say "wet" but definitely intimate - if not leaning towards sexual. It involved me and a former classmate that I never even considered a friend. I simply knew him because we had mutual friends, plus he was slightly annoying. Anyway, I bring it up because I feel that dream was a prelude to an email I received today. I booking a gig on a short film **insert applause** that I actually forgot about. Even though I submitted my video on the 4th (I think) I had a pretty busy video submission week . Actually the beginning of this month has been me hustling to get auditions then recording myself everyday to get them sent in a timely manner. I really do have a love/hate relationship with video submissions. I love the intimacy and control of being able to take more risk then s...

The Working Actress

So far, I have be really blessed this year. A music video premiering later this fall, Jackrabbit premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, got put on hold for a commercial (didn't get it though), on hold for a commercial right now (fingers crossed), and the best news of all… I'm Filming a movie this October in Michigan. I'll make a post on that later. I've just been preoccupied the last couple of months with things non-acting related. But I'm finally back in the spirit of things, mainly because of this beautiful blog I fond recently: http://theworkingactress.com   I love her honesty, her hustle and the fact that she finally made it. She stopped posting in mid 2012 and it's an anonymous blog so who knows what she's up to now, I imagine it involves lots of movie premieres! :) My advise is to start from the beginning and read it all the way to the end. Anyways, I just wanted to share that blog and say that I'm not dead. :) Hopefully I'll make a ...

Filming, Facebook, and AGENTS!

Image
Hey guys! So I've been pretty busy this past week. I had an industrial audition which was pretty exciting. Then I filmed the short 'What We Give'. The production company is  AMAA Productions  and it's directed by Dustin Butler. The story is so beautiful and it has a great message behind it. I had such an amazing time on set with the crew and my other cast member. My face loves getting beat up and dirty! lol I can't wait to show you guys when it's completed! And some more exciting news…..!!! I'm looking into getting represented with an agency! Hopefully all goes well and I'll be able to make a post about who I'm signed with and all that good stuff. Oh! And I'm also going to be apart of a project by Dyann Green, It's a 'Breaking Dawn:Part 2 Parody' and the script is so funny! I play Zafrina and I can't wait to start filming that at the end of the month. To donate so we can reach our goal go to the link HERE and like the m...

I'm a horrible blogger...

So it's been about three months since I've blogged. To be honest I forgot all about this page. I guess it's because I haven't been too busy with actual acting jobs, mostly background work...like today for instance.  It's a decent sized production with some big name actors. I booked this gig because I've worked with this extras casting company so many times that they contact me now, lol. Plus, it's good pay. AND, it's not a "cattle call" for this shoot today. It's only 5 extras and 3 people in cars, the kind of sets I like!  Anyways, I had an audition for this independent film that went really well! :) hopefully I get the part. It's a featured part, but I really liked the production company and the story seemed interesting.  And some more good news... The short that I filmed last year, "True Will" , is premiering this coming Sunday!!! Can wait to see the final cut and and the amazing cast and crew I worked with!  I'll try t...

"The Wild"

Image
So…I just wrapped my 3rd day on set for the film "The Wild". I played Laura, a drugged out chick who knows the secrets to the burning questions that the lead characters want answered. My 3 days were spread out over the entire corse of filming, and the shooting locations were spread out all over town so it was great showing up to a different location every time. Now that it's over it's time to move on to the next project. I'm considering sending out my headshots & resume to an agency that I've been dieting to sign with but I want to wait for clips of the projects I worked on for my demo reel. Patience IS a virtue. :) Now something my boyfriend didn't have patience for… IM ENGAGED! :))) On my cruise I just got back home for my boyfriend proposed to me! I'm super excited and still a little in shock! Can't wait 'til I walk down the isle!

Woah...

Is it 2014 already?! I guess time does fly by when you're having fun! This holiday season has been the busiest for me EVER! I've book some 2-3 day extra gigs. Those are always the best because not only is  it pay for each day, but you also get to make a lot of cool friends. I'm not sure how much i can say about the projects but once they're released I'll make sure to post picture and blog all about it. ;) And in other news…. I've been cast in the short film "The Wild" directed by Carleton Ranney. This movie is a future, sci-fi, thriller and i'm so excited to be apart of it! We start filming next week. Today I have a make-up test for my "drug addict" look. :) Once we start filming I'll make sure to post lots of pictures on here! I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Make this year count! Ally

"True Will" directed by Jim Hickcox

So I had the privilege of being cast in a short film called "True Will' , directed by UT grad Jim Hickcox. It lasted for 4 days( 3 days for me) and it was the best experience EVER! The location, make-up, wardrobe, cast, crew, everything was AMAZING and Kick-ASS! Shelter( Molly Karrasch) & Kong(Ally Payne) It really got me thinking about how I could do this for the rest of my life. It will defiantly be an experience I'll never forget! I have a couple of auditions coming up soon and the theater play I was going to be apart of got switch to a TV show! I'm so excited for what the future has in store for me as far as acting and film making goes and I will defiantly post my journey on here for your viewing pleasure. :) ALSO, find pictures on my instagram: @ allyjpayne Break a Leg! Update!

Well hello stranger!   I 'm soooooooo sorry it took me so long to make a post. I've been super busy these past couple of weeks.    I got an adorible puppy named Dior May, and I got cast in a short film!    We just wrapped on the 2nd day of shooting but I'm going to make separate post about each of the days. I guess this was a quick "hello" to let you know I'm not dead. I'll make sure to get those post up soon, with pictures! :) Break a leg!  Ally - "Kong" ;)

Disney Character Auditions: 10/10/13

So I'm here at my Disney auditions. When I arrived it was around 8:40am and there was already about 20 people here. Now it's 10 minutes to 9am and there's double that. I've heard about larger auditions being around 200 people so I wasn't sure how Austin would measure up. I know for the location it's pretty small so I don't think there will be more than 100, but the day is still early....only time will tell. :) All signed in for the first round of auditions. I'm 105. Pretty good number. Even though I was the 13th person in line they started a second sign in line with numberers 100+ so that's why I ended up getting 105. Anyways. Waiting for everyone to sign in so we can start. Not nervous yet. Hope it says that way.  Part2____________ Sorry about this late post. I've been pretty busy these past couple of days! To make a long story short I got cut after the first round. I think they were looking for taller cast members. But hope is not lost...

Biggest Audition of My Life! (so far...)

Today I'm auditioning for a national commercial and I'm FREAKING OUT! This will be one of the most important auditions I've ever had and I'm super nervous! It's for a "family dining" restaurant and I'm hoping to get a part as one of the store associates. I also have 2 auditions for short films. One was taped and one is here in town.  I don't leave until this after noon so I'll make sure to post a Part 2 later. Wish me luck!    Part2:  So I just finished my short film audition. It went pretty well. Hopefully I got the part :). Now I'm at the "Big One" !!! Ahhhh I'm so nervous. I have 10 minutes before I walk in. Here we go... _____________________________________   Part3: Well it's been a week and sadly I didn't get the part. In fact I didn't get any part on anything I've recently audition for. I feel like I've lost my MoJo or something. I've been getting a lot of feed back like,...

My First Industrial Video Shoot!

Image
OH HAPPY DAYS! I was booked as an extra for an industrial video shoot for a big name computer company! I've always wanted to do at least one industrial in my acting career, just to see what it's like. At this shoot they were showing off a couple of printers and their wifi printing features. My role as an extra was to mostly sit and "work" on the computer, or chat with a near by co-worker. Along with video they also took photos. The production company was really cool and the director was nice. It was a pretty long shoot. The call time was 9am, We started filming around 10am, lunch was around 1or 2pm, and I wrapped around 6/7pm. Also, 6/7pm is when I found a parking ticket on my car windshield. :/ .... (lunch time) One of the actresses said she usually books a couple of project every month (mostly commercials) and that supports her. It got me thinking....maybe I could try auditioning for more commercials. I would say I'm pretty photogenic and I take dire...

Success & SCAMS!

Image
Hello Again! I know it's been awhile but I have FINALLY moved to Austin, Texas and I feel right at home! Also the weather today has been wonderful so I thought to myself, "Time to stay indoors and find auditions!" A lot has happened since moving here. I got rejected(BADLY) by a top talent agent. Got new headshots:   Got cast on a couple of projects, but there's one I really want to talk about...... So, I'm not into bashing companies and people because that is not in my nature...so as much as I want to...I'll leave out their names(even though I really REALLY want to put them down!). But if you're in the Houston area I wouldn't mind telling you the company name in an email. Anyways.... I got an audition about a company who's looking for talent,no experience necessary, and it pays(RED FLAG #1). So I go to the building and there's a young man ahead of me and I can hear his audition pretty well. I get handed the same sides as he did to l...

Head Shots in Austin!

Image
HELLO ALL! So I  finally got the chance to head back home to Texas and while I was there I scheduled a photo shoot with Beverly Guhl! She does amazing head shots and I'm so lucky that I found her website! Take a look at some of the pictures: I'm SOOO impressed with her work! I will definitely go back to her in the future. Plus she's a total sweetheart!!! Check out her website HERE .  Also check out my imdb page !  XOXO, Ally

Allow myself to introduce...myself.

Image
I honestly hate writing about myself. It's so awkward! I don't want to sound too formal, but I don't want to be all over the place! So I guess I'll have to start from the beginning.(This might take awhile...) I've always had this crazy thought in my head that maybe, just maybe , I could be an actress. And it wasn't always an actress. Somedays it would be a singer, dancer,or even a costume designer! I had to have an "un-normal, un-boring"   job! Being an entertainer was something I couldn't shake! Nobody else in my family(except for my younger sister) showed interest in this field so I was really confused! But my confusion quickly changed transparent! It was totally unexpected but completely worth it!  My mom was taking my sister to this summer acting workshop so naturally I followed. When we got there the director wanted me to audition as well since there wasn't a lot of kids joining this year. The audition was to sing a song...I cho...
